Denture Base Materials
Denture base materials form the foundation of removable prostheses, providing the pink acrylic or thermoplastic structure that supports artificial teeth and rests against the patient's oral tissues. This category includes heat-cure and self-cure PMMA acrylics, injection-molded resins, and flexible thermoplastic materials, each offering different trade-offs in strength, flexibility, esthetics, and processing method. Denture base selection affects fit accuracy, patient comfort, and long-term durability, and the material is processed through packing and curing — or increasingly, injection, milling, or printing — to produce the final complete or partial denture base.
