Metal 3D Printers
Metal 3D printers use additive processes such as direct metal laser sintering (DMLS) or selective laser melting (SLM) to fabricate dental frameworks, typically cobalt-chrome, directly from a digital design file, building the part layer by layer from metal powder fused with a laser. This offers an alternative to conventional lost-wax casting for producing removable partial denture frameworks, copings, and implant substructures, often with reduced material waste and the ability to nest multiple cases in a single build. Printed metal parts require post-processing — support removal, heat treatment, and finishing — before they are ready for veneering or delivery.
