CAD/CAM Blocks & Discs

CAD/CAM blocks and discs are pre-fabricated milling blanks — zirconia, lithium disilicate, PMMA, composite, and wax — used in subtractive manufacturing to produce crowns, bridges, inlays, onlays, and denture components. After a restoration is digitally designed from an intraoral or lab scan, the milling unit cuts the shape directly from the block, which is then sintered, crystallized, stained, or polished depending on the material. Block selection depends on required esthetics, strength, and indication, from monolithic zirconia for posterior bridges to esthetic lithium disilicate for anterior units, making this category central to both chairside and lab-based CAD/CAM workflows.
