Indirect Composites
Indirect composites are resin-based restorative materials fabricated outside the mouth, typically in a laboratory, to produce crowns, inlays, onlays, veneers, and provisional restorations that are later bonded or cemented into place. Compared to direct chairside composites, indirect composites benefit from controlled layering, extra-oral curing, and reduced polymerization shrinkage stress, offering improved strength, wear resistance, and marginal accuracy for larger restorations. They provide a cost-effective, esthetic alternative to all-ceramic restorations where a metal-free, tooth-colored solution is desired without the cost of pressed or milled ceramics.
