Sandblasters
Sandblasters, or air-abrasion units, propel fine abrasive particles such as aluminum oxide or glass beads under compressed air to clean, roughen, or texture the surface of dental restorations and models before bonding, cementation, or porcelain application. Common applications include cleaning cast metal frameworks before opaque application, creating micro-retentive surfaces for resin bonding, and removing investment residue after casting. Controlled surface treatment from sandblasting is a prerequisite step for reliable adhesive and ceramic bonding across metal, zirconia, and composite restorations.
